How to prepare for a professional cleaner

Space Cleaners team · 14 February 2026 · 4 min read

A few useful steps that help your cleaner spend more time on the areas that need attention.

Share priorities in advance

Explain which rooms and tasks matter most, along with any surfaces needing special care. If time is limited, a priority list helps the cleaner focus.

Mention pets, allergies, parking, access and alarm arrangements before the visit rather than leaving surprises on arrival.

Clear access where practical

Putting away paperwork, toys and fragile belongings lets the cleaner reach surfaces safely. You do not need to clean before the cleaner arrives.

Secure valuables and medicines, and place pets somewhere comfortable if they may be anxious or try to leave through an open door.

Check what is included

Ovens, appliance interiors, windows, laundry and heavy furniture are not automatically included in every service. Agree add-ons when booking.

After the clean, raise any concern promptly and refer to the agreed checklist so it can be handled clearly.
