How to keep a kitchen hygienic between deeper cleans
Space Cleaners team · 21 May 2026 · 5 min read
Simple daily and weekly habits for worktops, sinks, appliances and high-touch kitchen surfaces.
Daily habits
Wipe spills promptly, wash cloths regularly and use separate equipment where needed to reduce cross-contamination. Follow food-safety guidance when preparing raw and ready-to-eat foods.
Clean handles, taps and switches as well as visible worktops. These frequently touched areas are easy to miss.
Weekly checks
Empty crumbs from drawers, wipe appliance fronts and check the fridge for spills or food that needs discarding. Clean the bin and the floor around it.
Remove grease from the hob and splashback using a product suitable for the finish. Do not use abrasive tools on delicate surfaces.
Know when a deep clean is due
Built-up grease around extractors, residue inside cupboards and dirt beneath appliances can require more time than a maintenance clean allows.
Create a rotating list or arrange a kitchen deep clean so these less frequent tasks are not forgotten.
