After Builders
After-builders cleaning: what it includes and how to prepare
Space Cleaners team · 18 April 2026 · 7 min read
What happens after renovation work, why fine dust returns, and what to agree before cleaners arrive.
Wait until the site is ready
The main building work should be complete and trades should remove tools, rubble and hazardous waste before a detailed clean begins. Confirm that water, power and safe access are available.
Tell the cleaning team about newly finished or delicate surfaces so the correct methods can be chosen.
Why building dust takes time
Fine dust settles on ledges, inside frames and across fittings after the visible debris has gone. It may take more than one careful pass, working from high areas down to floors.
Vacuuming with suitable equipment and damp wiping appropriate surfaces helps collect dust rather than simply moving it around.
Agree the scope clearly
Confirm whether the quote includes internal windows, frames, cupboards, paint spots, stickers and appliance interiors. Access restrictions and the property condition can change the time required.
A final sparkle clean is different from waste removal or specialist treatment of damaged surfaces, so raise these needs separately.
